Feeding the Mind

Aside from blogsearch and technorati, I have often used bloglines as a search tool when doing research. I never thought that the tool is pretty much useful in terms of enhancing blog traffic and page rank. So introducing another collaboration scheme which is funny at a certain level since it is patterned after the Viralink and ViralTags but definitely remarkable, here goes the ViralFeeds.

Here are the rules:

1) If you don’t have a bloglines account, as many of you may now, sign up for one, if you do have a bloglines account sign in to your account!

2) For bloggers, you can write a short introductory paragraph about how you found the Bloglines list and include a link to the blog that referred you, (i.e Founders Cafe, in this case) to the list.

3) COPY the Rules and ENTIRE List below and post it to your blog. To avoid duplicate content and increase the amount of keywords your site can be accessible for, go ahead and change the titles of the blog. Just don’t change the links of the blog.

4) Take the “My New List” and move them into the “The Original List”.

5) Add 3 Blogs that you’ve just added to your Bloglines List to the “My New List” section. Remember to also add the “List the Site link next to your new blogs (i.e. http://www.bloglines.com/sub/http://www.theblogurl.com/feed)

6) Add Everyone on this list to your Bloglines List by clicking on “List the Site.” Those who want good kharma will list you back. If not, you will for sure get the benefits of readers from the bloggers who continue this list after you.

A Different Kind of Evil Blogging

1.) Copy and paste the matrix of “Viral Icons” below courtesy of Ilker Yoldas from The Thinking Blog.

2.) Upload your non-animated favicon (GIF image of size 16×16 pixels) to ImageShack, a similar free image hosting server or to your own server provided by your hosting service if you have one.

3.) Substitute the Host Icon and one of the “Viral Icons” in the matrix with your ALT text of choice and your blog’s URL. Maximum of 3 specific keywords for the ALT text are best for it to be effective.

4.) When you get a ping back from someone that has your icon in one of their “Viral Icons”, practice good karma by copying his/her Host Icon’s code (automatically the associated ALT tag will also be copied) and paste it over one of your “Viral Icons” below.

5.) Invite your readers to do the same and soon this can grow virally.

Rules: No Porn Sites, Only 1 icon per person (i.e. don’t hog the ViralIcons!), and please don’t tamper with other people’s ALT tags, URLs or favicons.Important: Once I get a ping back from you (I promise to do the best I can), I will add your favicon and the associated code you designate as “Host Icon” here, replacing one of the “Viral Icons” from the matrix above.
